History Under Pressure - This drawing was discovered in an old book dealing with the Magdeburg demonstration. It depicts the original scene as two eight-horse teams try in vain to pull the vacuum sphere apart. At top of picture are the specially-tooled hemispheres which Otto Von Guericke used to prove the powerful pressure of air. They are shown before and after joining. April 08, 1955.
