A great host of nations, headed by their Chiefs, congregated at Umtata, Transkei, form all the Transkeian territories to pay homage to the Royal family, when they visited the native Capital, during their tour of South Africa. The King, who was wearing tropical Naval uniform, with garter ribbon and sword, presented medals to many of the Paramount chiefs, and it was here that for the first time the Royal Family heard the famous Royal salute "Beyets" - three times repeated - a resounding and impressive welcome.
